D DAY (BEACH IN FRANCE)

Ā
75 years ago I landed on a beach in FranceĀ
Not for a holiday and not for romance Ā
Me and my comrades were there for warĀ
What were we fighting for I'm not really sureĀ
Some came back and some did notĀ
All were left in a difficult spotĀ
I was lucky I came back home aliveĀ
Now it's the anniversary of seventy fiveĀ
Remember us all before you go to bedĀ
Particularly the ones that ended up dead

great poem did you see the 97 year old who parachured yesterday in normandie wow that was something
Yes I did Greg ,it was really emotional seeing the ones that were there ,and relating to their memories of that awful war and crying openly for all to see ,I cried with each and everyone of them ,,
beautiful write Kieran as once again you are the tops ,well done x
I love the poem so much it just had such a nice flow.
A real time for reflection on the harsh realities facing the world then..and the silent heroism that was displayed by so many valiant men and women..an excellent reminder Kieran! Xx
Thank you for your poem.Ā My dad also, landed in France and fought in WWII and lost a close friend. He was not one to talk about it, but all of you are heroes.Ā Thank you for your service.Ā My dad has ;passed many years ago.
Hi there Shirley
Thank you for your comment.
Sorry to advise you but this poem was done not on a "personal" level.Ā
However I very much agree that all of them are heroes and should never be forgotten
