Daily Face

Daily Face

Let's begin, shall we?
Multiple splashes of hotness
Triggers a jolted wakefulness.
Red and new, raw and true.
We can do this.
It's just another day.
How hard can this one be?
At what hour shall defeat toll?
Everything starts with controlled smiles
And ends in mistrust and glimmering hate.
Coffee should work this foul mood.
Chocolate must keep us in line.
Beer will thankfully soothe us after the matter.
Shoot.
Mineaswell have a super cheesy pizza, too.
I don't want to go out there.
Alas, money is required for what we deem survival.
I should run.
But how far can I go?
How long can I last?
Never far enough or long at all.
I already dread the next face I carve.

Everything starts with controlled smiles

An intriguing and, obliquely, honest appraisal of the quotidian effort to build a facade for the outside (and maybe even inside?!) world.
I know what you mean by "...what we deem survival"; but isn't the act of presenting the 'Daily Face' to the world a survival technique in and of itself?!

You may dread the next face you carve...but I look forward to the next poem you write!!

Fantastic!
