Dakota-Maries Journey

Dakota-Maries Journey

Just an ordinary day,
Started out the same old way.
Laughing and joking like a little girl should, shouting and playing - enjoying her childhood.
Off to bed without a clue,
Unbeknown to us, what could we do?
Ambulance sirens and flashing lights,
Trying to keep her smiling with all our might.
We cried, prayed and had hope,
Somehow we managed to cope.
9 hours later and eyes red raw,
Looking into space, then to the door.
Wishing and praying our little girls pulled through, our next plan? Sorry - not a clue!
The rug was snatched from under our feet, cancer is horrid - something she WILL beat.
Day by day, she's getting stronger,
Eating drinking and playing for longer.
Back to seeing that courageous smile,
Mum and dad no longer in denial.
After the docs shaved some of her hair,
She still has a smile, did she care?
All the treatments are now over,
Healings nearly all done.
A fresh beginning, so time for some fun!
Life continues with no evidence of disease,
3  months later, stay away cancer please?
Back to scanixety and all the worry,
These feelings don't go in a hurry!
When things go wrong because they will,
When that road your walking down seems like a hill,
Don't give up hope - Dakota NEVER will.
So when your down and upset a bit,
Just remember, cheer up and DON'T quit!
