Damnable Me

Damnable Me

Went to see the busy bishop
for moral restoration
and potential eternal salvation
of my rapidly degrading soul

His grim sister receptionist
doing her screening duties
encouraged me to first pray alone
and then come back tomorrow
when they would not be there
to hear my confession

Then she picked up the phone
and ordered take out
leaving spiritually wanting me
deprived and hungry
on the cold cathedral steps
with only my disillusionment
to keep my now faithless ass warm
