Dark Feathers

Dark Feathers

Stand by the shore,
alone,
darkness becoming
my only companion.

I look far ahead,
brightness,Β
it's last stand,
conquers the sky,

I watchΒ
as the day
slowlyΒ
passes away.

White harshΒ
bright,
diesΒ
quickly now,
replaced with
bright, thenΒ
deep crimson,
instantly orange,
burnt siennaΒ
underneath,

all before me
as far as I can see
spans my horizon
clouds above,
like the feathers
of angelsΒ
kiss the
falling sky.

Each feather
reflects the colors,
that die before me,
then, turn dark.

I'm alone.Β
Night invades.
My day,
yearning toΒ
survive,
sinks into
the sea.

It gifts to me
a last gasp of
joyful color
turning gray,
as itΒ
slowly says
goodbye.
