Poem -

Daughter

He tried hard not to notice the mess that was piling up at her door He was the only man in her life who would love her forevermore He said, Daughter, don’t be like me I want you to be free I don’t want you to live life the way that I have I want you to be glad I don’t want you to need a man or anyone to get along I want you to have everything you want, in this life I want you to be able to stand on your own Daughter, don’t be like me I want you to be free Know that whatever you do, I will always love you God blessed me with the greatest gift, when he gave me you I want you to be strong I hope you will live long I wish nothing but the best for you Daughter, don’t be like me I want you to be free I want you to be happy and whole There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you But now I want you to fly away
