Deal with it

Why can't people move on and leave me in their past.
Obviously what we had was never going to last.
There was nothing there to begin with, I was just someone you kept at home as a trophy.
Because of you I lost who I was, lost all personality that was mine.
Over the years I became a robot pretending to be happy, so I wouldn't hurt anyone else.
But I'm happy now, so let me go. I will never go back to just existing ever again.
Now I'm gonna live and love my life.
I'm gonna be free, I'm gonna be me.
Trapped I never will be
