~ DEAR MYTHOLOGY ~
{a query into the past}
Dear Mythology,
Are you quite content to be
The solitary ghost, blowing
Through all of times grandiosities
Or, don the truth that you are,
Like a shaken bottle
Spurting forth into reality's jar,
Manifesting as a specimen
For all to see, taste, and feel
Bubbling up into history's passages
Accenting times unseen ravages,
Helping secrets to be revealed
That modern man may comprehend,
All that ancient Kings, kept concealed
Dear Mythology,
If you existed suddenly
Would you be found on a mournful coast
Not unlike the Dead Sea Scrolls
Or, come to see me as in a dream
Appearing to me most sonorously
As a fine narrator voicing poetry,
Or, come to me as lightning striking
Perhaps in the form of a symphony
Oh, sweet mystery
Thou art indeed,
Such a fine
Questioning...
There is, oh, so much more
In the spaces between,
Accepting and knowing
That thou art a truly
Enigmatic power,
Ever encompassing
All that hides from the We,
The ever-elusive totality,
Of mankind's unknown
History...

Tony I think The Great Bard would be very proud of you if the great man were alive today and had just read your more than fine poem.
For that is what I see, that son of Stratford with your finely woven nods and nuances that echo his work and superbly conceived as well.
Beautifully well written and gloriously presented and your poem's engaging and dreamlike image quality of what is past is prologue and its title are poetry perfection.
