Dear mythology
Would you like to be
The solitary ghost, blowing
Through time's grandiosity
Or become the truth you are
Like a shaken bottle
Spurting forth into reality's jar
Manifesting a specimen
For all to see and hear
Bubbling up into history's passages
Accenting time's ravages
Helping secrets to be revealed
Allowing modern man
To understand
All that ancient kings
Kept concealed....
Dear mythology,
If you existed suddenly
Would you wash up on a mournful coast
Not unlike the Dead Sea Scrolls
Or, come to see me as in a dream
Appearing to me most sonorously
Like James Earl Jones voicing poetry
Or come to me as lightning striking
In the form of a Beethoven symphony
Oh, sweet mystery
How thou art
Such a fine
Questioning...
Dear Mythology,
Is it simply that you wait
Ever so patiently
All knowing, all seeing,
For most certainly
There exists so much more
Than what we see
Methinks this oh so true,
Dear mythology,
You are the enigmatic power
Ever encompassing
All that stores the we
The totality
Of our unknown
History...
