Dearly Beloved...

I write this letter because I'm so proud of who we are,
We've lived through all our troubles together, even the war,
When we ran out of coal or wood, we had each other to keep warm,
You made our girls clothes with your machine, as times were hard.
The Sunday afternoon's were my favourite, we seen the girls playing happy in the local park,
They shouted "daddy come and push me" while we were canoodling in each other's arms,
But times became even harder, when we missed out of having a boy,
It took a while for the tears to dry, but we still had a family full of joy.
When I heard the words "do you take Joyce as your loving wife"
I knew I was a lucky man and I'd be happy for the rest of my life,
When we seen our children grow up and fly the nest,
A little piece of my heart broke in my aching chest.
You were there to fix the pieces back together,
Because by my side, in you, I still had my forever,
When the time came to hang up my miners hat and retire,
I was so happy, because with you, I get to lay in front of the fire,
So dearly beloved, this life has been no bed of roses,
We've had our ups and downs just like the Jones's,
We are heroes to each other, as we stood the test of time,
So again, dearly beloved,
Our life was ours, but I'm so glad you were mine.
Dearly Beloved
My dearly beloved...
