But cannot run from time
The ticking of the clock
Reminds us continually
How artificial existence can be
No one can overcome death
It is the ultimate stop

Immortal as we think we are
We will end up one day
Having once lived
An expensive hole in the ground
Will be our claim for posterity

Undressed of our flesh
We will lie awaiting
A possible resurrection
The great upheaval
That reawakens us from our slumber
Will reunite body with a fickle spirit
That did abandon it

Dust to dust
Ashes to ashes
A memory of living is
All those dead have
They reside in a hole

We build epitaphs to prove
We once knew how to live
Those that remember
Will one day die
One day will be completely forgotten

No one can nor will live for ever
A review of our life
Will take place in our absence
A sure sign of how we lived
Are the memories and
Testimonies of those left behind

To have lived is a gift
The chosen few have received
Let us be thankful
And live a life that
We are happy with
