Deep-seated

Deep-seated

Quite deep-seated stuff
my past a bit rough
to let go is tough
deflect with comments off-the-cuff
ask no questions I'll tell no lies
don't need you to sympathise
I don't want your pitying eyes
Life's kept me on my toes
but no desire to share my woes
I'll keep my head up and follow my nose
trying not to repeat past mistakes
even though I've upped the stakes
I've empathy and understanding
I'm low maintenance not demanding
keeping things on an even keel
chasing happiness with zeal
