Delicate Operation
With Chainsaw and Jackhammer

"The heart is to the breast what the bull-rider is to the field."
My yard is a china shop
Filled with wares for auction when the timing is right
I don't want destruction here
Fragile goods are we
And yet I have a wild heart that doesn't know how to dance
We've shattered the valuable pieces
And are in a bloody mess
What to do when the rodeo becomes an emergency clinic
Arrest my heart and throw it in the clink
No more bleeding heart
Just a blissful rest

No idea what you mean. And do we need such brutal force:Ā Ā chainsaw and jackhammer? Can see the context is very good but just my wondering!
Hi Yiyan,Ā
This poem is an adaptation of a saying (allegedly) by Muhammad: The heart is to the breast what the horse is to the field. But I have mashed it up with an old cliche "like a bull in a china shop", which refers to a person who is awkward and rushes things and makes an unnecessary disaster due to their lack of patience and subtlety. So in answer to your question, "No, brutal force is bad". That's the point. My heart needs to be more gentle with me. š

Thank you, Al (is this the way to address you? or need to beĀ al Bikaadi) for your explanation. It was genuinely wondering. Still don't know the exact meaning of "The heart is to the breast" though. Sorry I'm so ignorant.
Just a thought, does it mean "the heart will be wild when seeing ..."?
I prefer al-Bikaadi. Otherwise Rayan is ok (it's not "Al")
Breast/chest/ lungs area is where the heart is hosted. What it means is that the emotions we feel (the thoughts and sensations in the heart) are kind of roaming around that area.Ā
