Poem -

demon

Last night i was sleeping
there was a knocking on my door
the fear that surrounded meย
left me hiding on the floor

the knocking turned to pounding
my body starts to freeze
fear and anxiety surround me
and bring me to my knees

this demon that is knocking
he storms in every night
leaving me alone and scaredย
searching for the light

the darkness consumes me
insainly i walk to the door
knowing my demon will comfort me
then leave me alone and starving for more

the door begins to open
my heart begins to race
my demon will not leave quietlyย
he has to much at stake

his red eyes burn though meย
as we stand face to faceย
this power of his presence
is almost more then i can take

my body is shakingย
my eyes burn with fear
my demons eyes grow darker
i know the ending is near

i cannot fight him anymoreย
i cannot stand the painย
so today i surrenderย
and put my demon in his grave

Hey JULIE ARTZ!!......this is a VERY compelling piece....... well conceived...... and delivered with excellent timing....... the ambiance you create here reminds me of "POE"........ even the formatting and metering are indicative...... but I like the originality of the narrative....... maintaining the continuity with some "way cool" phrasing......." the knocking turned to pounding, my body starts to freeze"....... cool stuff..........ALL STARS....... well done...... and.......WELCOME to COSMO!!.....LOVE and ROCKETS!!.......T xo

I love the rythm of this. ย I felt it deeply. Thisย ย is very real to me and comes from that 3 am fear that I used to have waking me with my heart pounding drenched in sweat. Confronting our demons is very difficult. Your poem is a great release and a lesson in how to release fear, pure psychoteraphy congratulations. welcome to Cosmo... keep rhyming... John

This poem reminds me of when I was little sleeping under the duvet. I always felt as if somebody was walking around our room or my clothes would look like a man standing looking at me. Well done I really like it!
