depression

Its a bit like walking down a long dark corridor,
Never knowing if the light will ever go on.
It's like, this feeling that you have lost something but not sure exactly where or what it was.
Every day we live this battle fought inside our heads,
not knowing if we will ever win or if we will end up dead.
So we keep all of our thoughts inside as thats the safest place they will be,
until we come to rest our heads and escape into our dreams.
Then morning comes and reality hits we are back here once again,
fighting this daily battle not knowing if its ever going to end.
This illness that we suffer!!
it has a name...
its called depression,
It can not be controlled or helped and its kept at our own discretion.
Its a chemical imbalance deep inside our minds,
a nightmare that we live with and hide behind a smile.
So next time that you see a smile please look into there eyes,
for we all are good at hiding, how we really feel inside.

Truly great and honest write.
Or worse, knowing the light is on but feeling like you're in darkness.
Writing is the best way I have ever found to make peace with existing in this world. That and that having survived long enough I know now that this world is full of truly beautiful people.
You express this horrible condition so well. I look forward to reading more of your work, welcome to Cosmofunnel,
Nigel
p.s. Have you read "The Yellow Wall-paper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman? I think you might like it.
hear hear!
thank you for your nice words, means alot.
I am new to this so not really sure how it all works yet, lol.
all i know is I have a natural ability to put pen to paper and even though I have only just started doing this, it helps to get stuff out my head. when i put that pen to paper its a release. not sure if that makes sense lolΒ
It makes absolute sense Kelly. Keep writing !
Nigel
great poem welcome to cosmo
thank youΒ
Depression can effect anyone
sadly the young and old
- we play pretend - in happiness
While the shadows form and mold
But it only takes one soul to listen
Reaching out a hand to hold
To find some comfort in this illness, a warmer place
from out theΒ cold.
ββββββ inspired by your poem :)

so good! <3
Hey, Kelly.
This is a vivid and very apt poetic proclamation portraying depression in a true light from someone who has obviously "been there, done that."
I suffer from PTSD myself.
I try and explain to folks that I have good days and bad days, but the bad days are really bad and the good days are...well...so-so.
Anyhow, good writing here and welcome to CosmoFunnel.

A Mother's Love By Jeff Fleischer
Feeding you and changing your diapers is a mother's love.
Teaching you right from wrong is a mother's love.
Holding your hand while you cross the street is a mother's love.
Helping you get dressed is a mother's love.
Helping you learn to read and with your homework is a mother's love.
Taking a picture of you and your prom date is a mother's love.
Waiting up for you until curfew is a mother's love.
Worrying about you, from your cradle to her grave
Is a mother's love.
