To help and assist get into the criminal mind 
Fictitious TV detectives had a gimmick I think you will find 
Poirot relied solely on his little grey cells 
To apprehend the no gooders and ne'er do wells

For Kojak he got inspiration from his lollipop
The clues would fit and the penny would drop
Also in the seventies was cool Columbo
His gimmick was a raincoat I'm sure you know

A pipe and a violin helped him solve the clue 
All you criminals out there please listen to me
