Die-hard habits 🤣

I can remember back in my good old days
My Mother would look after us in those old fashionable  ways
In Springtime after the cold winter had past
You’d had all you were given so your lot had to last
Spoonfuls of Rose hip syrup was a regular treat
As four of my siblings and me sat in a row on the seat
Each sipping from the spoon as it was held in my Mam’s hand
I loved Rosehip syrup, it tasted so grand
Then fishy cod liver oil was always another
Again just a spoonful every day from your dearest doting Mother
So sticky like treacle and a very dark brown
You had to suck it off the spoon after the lot had went down
But my favourite usual routine that we always got, especially if you wern’t feeling well and a trifle too hot
My Mam would pour out a tiny dose full of Lucozade
Just a shot glass was meant as a medicinal aid
This minute mouthful had an impact on me
Coz every time I was pregnant it was my craving you see
Those ancient, out-dated, old-fangled days
From my Mother’s Mother’s die-hard habits and traditional ways...
