Dig Deeper

I never want to misinterpret, a poetâs written words;
For they are born from deep within their souls, and correctly must be heard!
Sometimes they analyze quite easily, but oft times they are abstruse;
And the last thing that I care to do, is their pith to eâer abuse!
.
But I have found with several readings, versus the usual cursory scan;
I glean much more than with the first one, I understand their plan!
Which makes me feel then justified, to attempt a wise comment;
Feeling I am now well versified, on exactly what they meant!
.
So there you have my formula, for âpoetic disections successâ;
It may not work all of the time, but it will save you lots of stress!
Read well into the heart of it, âDig Deeperâ if you must;
Then the artist will know theyâve found a friend, and you will have earned their special trust!

Dear Brother Poet LARRY!!
         "...the poet is the Namer, or Language-maker, naming things after their appearance, sometimes after their essence, and giving to every one its own name and not another's, thereby rejoicing in the intellect, which delights in detachment or boundary.". ~ Emerson
I love that you used the word "abstruse" here...... for it is so often that the poet uses the double meaning or the quadruple, or centuple, or much more manifold meaning. Leaving themselves open to disappointment in others interpretations of their work. But, as you say, when it works just right, the artist will know they've found a friend. I also thought it clever to use the foundation of a limerick's timing here because its much easier to recall in that measure. Anyway, keep 'em coming my friend!!....... beautiful job here .....fistful-O-stars!!......LOVE and ROCKETS!!.....T xo ?âłâ´â
My Dear Brother Poet Tony,
.
So not to be obtuse
I used the word abstruse
For words tough to be defined
A challenge to ones mind
.
But with depths of pure peruse
Their intentions you'll not abuse
Then you'll find you've made a friend
Instead of having make amends
.
Inspired by Ogden Nash
.
Peace, Love and Rockets,
Larry xxx
