Ding Dong--------Ava Calling

It was a summer day in August, 1963, and I was hanging at my favorite pool;
I was looking for a date that night, a girl I thought was really cool!
Two months before, I had broken up, with my longtime steady girl;
And was dating like a man possessed, to again give love a whirl!
All at once a girl walked in, who fit my every taste;
She was tall and thin and beautiful, with hair well past her waist!
I rushed as fast as my feet would go, to reach her lovely side!
âI saw you come in and I love your hairâ, were the first words that I cried!
She smiled at me as my knees grew weak, and said âThank you very muchâ;
I said âMy name is Larry, what is yoursâ, she said âAvaâ, our fingers touched!
She said she was visiting her Uncle and Aunt, from Brooklyn New York State;
We stayed together the whole day long, and for that night we made a date!
I picked her up and when I opened the door, to let her into my car;
She slid all the way over to the driverâs side, from me, not very far!
When we arrived at the movie I let her out, her arm slid around my side;
I did the same feeling her lovely hair, for it was down and now was untied!
After the movie we went to my favorite hang, for burgers and some fries;
I could tell my buddies loved how she looked, I saw their riveted eyes!
After that we went to go park, we cuddled and we gently kissed;
She rekindled flames in my atrophied heart, feelings I long had so missed!
She was staying in town for only ten days, and every one we two shared;
We had so much in common, that both of us loved, so perfectly were we both paired!
There was only one small problem at hand, it was about her tender young age;
For I had just turned nineteen years old, her fifteenth soon on the page!
Yet she had an IQ unbelievably high, it was one hundred and seventy three;
I thought this girl is so damn smart, she could join Mensa and be a member with me!
But even though her age was so young, she was mature well beyond her years;
She was erudite and very urbane, therefore she allayed all of my fears!
By our third night together we talked of our love, our pulse counts were way off the charts;
Saying goodbye at the end of the night, was breaking both of our hearts!
So we started thinking about running away, and never to part again;
Dangerous thoughts for two love struck kids, but we were not thinking clearly right then!
Each day that came closer to her going back home, she wept, did not want to leave;
Nor did I myself want her to go, for I knew I would too, sadly grieve!
Our minds told us eloping was not going to be, but our hearts begged for us, it to do;
We became so morose, emotionally wrought, we were caught in a âCatch 22â!
We finally decided to follow our brains, she had to return to her home;
But we would write to each other every day, long letters, but more like tomes!
I also promised Iâd drive to New York, within the next thirty days;
This would give us some time to see how we felt, while we were so far away!
And just like I vowed I came to her town, to be again at her side;
But as these sad stories usually end, something in both had since died!
The fantasies we shared for those wild ten days, had become a reality check;
Our senses now had fully returned, we knew our lives we nearly had wrecked!
With tears falling down we held very close, and promised to write once a week;
Then maybe when she became eighteen, we could have the life we had just last month seeked!
But that was the last time I ever saw Ava, the distance and fetching too far;
Yet a few days later, I met a girl named Bunny, who also sat close in my car!

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,
Yes, I seem to have quite a vivid recall capability for these anecdotes of my life. Â Like I told Merrill, the next installment, "Larry Does The Bunny Hop", is quite a bit longer, because she lasted six months. Â So glad you enjoyed it. Â I have a lot of fun writing them, and for some crazy reason, have been remembering about "all the girls I've loved before". Â Linda is not jealous because she knows that they were just stepping stones to finding my soulmate.
Peace, Love and Rockets,
Larry xxxÂ
Lovely memory Larry from a more innocent time,well liked.
Hi John,
Yes, those were sure the days of innocence weren't they. Â So glad you enjoyed it.
Peace and Love,
Larry XXX
This is a great little piece of your life story and thank you for allowing me to learn a bit more about your life back then my gorgeous, wonderful and very sexy Larry. I wish I`d known you back then because Linda would certainly have had a fight on her hands with me for your heart...lol!!!! I too had very long wavy blonde hair back then right down to just above my ankles and I was only 7st back then too.... but I`m only 5ft tall still... worse luck!! It`s a good job my Linda is stunning because I wouldn`t have had a chance in hell anyway... lol! My wonderful Linda is a very lucky girl indeed my darling so take very good care of her because she is very presious to both of us and give her a hug and a kiss for me and tell her to give you the same too.
I love you both deeply and give my Cody a hug too.
God bless and keep you safe.
Love G xx
Hi My Dearest G,
Of course, Linda wasn't around back then. Â Long hair almost to your ankles? Â The girls back then would not have had a chance. Â I would have shouted out "Georgina, Georgina, let down your golden hair", and I would have climbed to your tower where we would have lived happily ever after. Â I would have slain the evil witch with one swipe of my sword. Â In all sincerity, I'd love to see a photograph of you from then. Â Linda and I both take care of one another, and her beautiful long hair drives me crazy too. Â
We both love you so much too, as does Cody.
God Bless and keep you safe too.
Love from us all,
Linda, Larry and Little Cody xxx
Hey Dad...beautiful narrative....You obviously have a penchant for slim beautiful girls...Thank heavens Linda is slim and very beautiful....lol...I'm really enjoying this side of your past...I'm glad I caught them
love you
Hi Sweet Rose,
I am enjoying it too. Â It has given me great pleasure to dig back in to these innocent years, of which, I seem to have tremendous recall. Â It is making me forget my pain and smile over these humorous anecdotes. Â I am so happy that you are enjoying them too. Â Linda might not be as slim as these girls, but I can em-fat-ically say, she is better than any of them.
Love you,
Daddio xxx
