distant lands

so far away in a distant land I leave you and my love.
I travel far and listen for your love, if love can be heard that is.
Do I hear drums? or is it your heartbeat travelling across distant lands?
Will I ever see you again? must I wander alone?
Weariness covers me like a death shroud, the weight of which is as armour.
Can I cast the burden aside? am I able to understand the distant lands in my midst?
Forever and a day my travels continue yet my mind burns, it hurts to think I may never see you again.
Every step is a chore, every turn is a choice,
every stop is a chain.
Shall it be so that I must wait..shall it be so I must decide..
Shall it be so I'm alone forever.
The sun rises, the sun sets..yet your no nearer to me than my own breath.
Eyes shut and imagination takes over..I see you! I feel you..I need you yet my held out hand feels nothing.
The distant land rolls on..silence! a deathly silence..no breeze..nothing.
A lonely bird circles above as looking as I am for something to cherish.
I strain as it slowly decends into oblivion and out of sight.
It's over now, for me anyway..it's over as I have reached my distant land and now eternity takes over...
