distracted

Distracted i just happen to think
about everything
and nothing
head wonderin' here
head wonderin' there
mine and
the others' too
sitting round me drinking
they try talking to me
not that they don't
but
even when i'm answerin'
it's not me they are talking to
i'm sitting
and gazing
and seeing you
so far away
really far
damn far
and trying
(and that even when you're not here)
to impress you
if you
just happened to peek in through the window
so that you wouldn't see me fallin' asleep
and thinking
and not talking
and sitting
and gazing
far from here
the train calls melancholy
driving people that are too just staring or reading
i am now
for example
reading a great book
i love looking into those
opening them
and closing
and reading into the others' trouble
and reading
and thinking
and staring
and noticing
what kind of time this is
how debilitating
but also amazing
how someone just sits somewhere
and decides other people's stuff
our stuff
and we must wait for
the Man to make up his mind
speak his verdict
if i am still here
but
am i here at all?
