Do I know you

  Do I know you.
Do I know you, I almost never forget a face. Don’t tell me , for sure I’ll find it a place.
I trust you weren’t off the movies, those of a life long ago. No that’s not it, just give me a chance, they say the memories are always the first to go.
I thought I could remember you, by the way you called my name. But sorry my day is slipping by , it’s passing by as fast it came.
We should have to get together again very soon, I didn’t tell you I should leave by noon. The next we meet, maybe we could share a pie, and maybe even share the spoon.
I had a wife that I loved very dear, she brought me to this lovely park and left me here. What’s that my dear, you back so quick, no my my dearest I’ve been right here.
Of memories lost, of lives gone past, of stories shared by only few. Of lives without the memories of, and by the way, do I know you?

Ahhh I loved this one, Technically our brain subconsciously stores all the faces we have ever seen... But I love this poem and the experience of meeting someone we have come about before... I think we can all relate!
The problem was, it was his wife he forgot;(
This is brilliant and so sad. Made me think of dementia and how cruel it can be to the one confused and lost, and the one who has to carry them whilst watching themselves be forgotten. Well penned indeed
