Don't Look

Words so rich in meaning failĀ
to paint the image within my heart
Like the rollers of ink and typeface of printers
are limited to the mind of the editors
And I am a poor example of one
just look at all I've done

My clothes are tattered and from me fall
for I've chosen waste over all
Funds which would secure a man
have been spent with no plan
Bartered my soul and body too
for the taste of poisonous dew

It was perhaps even more than drink
that led me to this desperate brink
Such inability to handle what time brings us all
when cherished hopes and loved ones fall
Yes, even my own deficiencies in the realm of mortals
causes these bitter thoughts and chortles

Turning away from those whose beauty's surreal
afraid of them seeing just how I feel
For don;t perfect looks mock hideousness
making what's hidden known for it's ugliness
Then perhaps you greater understand my woe
far better than friend far worse than foe
