Down A Street

Sometimes,
the light might lend itself
creep softly from a lampost
on the way
down a street
at night's starless hour
when the small childen sleep
Often
a cat might keep company
in the shadows that follow
silently stalking
the hollow
to hollow
and a stray light
might venture
from a lampost or two
because there's nothing
much else
to accompany you
Sometimes
