DOWN THE MINE

Going down the mine is a hazardous job 
Get paid a pittance and take home a bob
Dangers lurk every corner and every turn 
The health of the workers a major concern

Daylight not seen for at least ten hours 
These men pocess incredible superpowers 
Picking at coal with a shovel and a spade
Showing no fear but secretly very afraid 

The shift finally over and they go to a pub
A pint or two and maybe some cooked grub
Home now and its straight off to bed 
Their wives at home left with nothing said
