" DRAGONFLY "

There are seagulls gliding above the lake
And Dragonfly's hovering all over my rooftop deck
My eyes take me across the Great Lake, Michigan
And reminds me of all I have not seen yet
A Dragonfly lands on my cane, and looks me in the eye
With it's yellow and green body, and wings so wide
That it's not so amazing to me, that they can fly
I am dumbstruck by the Godliness and the beauty
That I find myself in the midst of
I feel blessed to commune with the Dragonfly's
And the lake that soars up, into the clear blue sky
I find I have no reason to be sad, or to cry
No matter what the dam doctors tell me
The beauty of this life, keeps telling me
The beauty of this life, is telling me
To spread my wings
And to soar
As does,
The Dragonfly......

Tony! I love nature! Every day we awake to appreciate living this life is a blessing. Oftentimes, we find the most miraculous in our back yard…what a blessing when your inner eye opens to see wonders that were not seen the day before. Magnificence seen in natural form is so peaceful.
I lived in Chicago for many years and always enjoyed taking my folding chair and notebook…pen poised over the paper waiting for some mystery to speak to me as the waves hit the rocks. On some of those "windy city" days secrets are released that excited my imagination. (Funny how one's "muse" is stimulated by the nearness of water, the ebb and flow of the tide and it characteristics..turbulent, peaceful, unpredictable, murky, frozen etc.

Wow Valerie!!...........you lived here in Chicago?..........small world............I live on Lake Shore Drive.........so I can walk across the street to the beach............much of my poetry has been written there........doing EXACTLY as you suggested............being inspired by the meditative sounds and breezes and animals and weather of this amazing Lake we have here...........and the observations on the people there can be quite inspirational as well............but the nearness of the water itself IS indeed..........."muse" stimulating!!..........smiles............thanx for this sweetheart.............Love and Rockets!!...........T xo
Yes…I had a condo on South Shore Drive near the country club…just didn't like the winter so close to the lake. More than a bit chilly! val
Valerie......I live at 1400 N Lake Shore Dr.............I adore where I live...........spring, summer, and fall.........make it worth the winters for me...............smiles..........T xo
Yes…you have such a great view year round! I moved north also, however, I was at the end of LSD on Sheridan.
