Drowning

Drowning in a hole of bottomless black,
Sinking without a way to go back,
The farther down the less light I see,
Just dark and cold surrounding me.
Unable to breathe or make a sound,
Wishing I'd already drowned,
The cold, black water everywhere,
I'm the only one who sees it there.
Tears just add to the murky mess,
My hopes and cares are becoming less,
My thoughts all slowly drift away,
I'm falling asleep, where I might stay.
Not much point in fighting fate,
It's not like I can escape this state,
I'm drifting off, life seeping out,
Just choking on water when i try to shout.
Life is pointless anyway,
Why try to prolong a miserable stay?
Death's what's coming in the end,
Just welcome it like a long-lost friend.

You really capture that near-physical sensation of drowning which is the feature of many kinds of depression.
The imagery, stark...the atmosphere, claustrophobic.
Accomplished!
