Each day is an animal
Monday it's a bear
Sharp claws sink into my heart
Digging deep into the shallow waters
Finding nothing but emptiness and
left over bones of happiness
Tuesday it's a hawk
Flying high in the sky
eyes as wide as a child's imagination.Β
Claws clenching tight ready to grab but,
my heart does not run or beat any faster.
It surrenders to the truth.
The claws dig deep into the of river of oxygen,
thatΒ flows steadily in my heart but,
nothing except emptiness is foundΒ
Wednesday it's a woodpecker
its beak punching holes into my heart,
allowing me to breathe,
helping my hearts rythmΒ
it becomes clear
one hole in your heart isn't enoughΒ
The woodpecker pecks at my empty heart
and helps it wake up at last
It shows my heart that it's needed.
It has a responsibility
to keep me alive.
Thursday it's myself
I am an animal too,
wild,strong and fearlessΒ
Been through the deep ends of the water.
And flowed down the river of grief.
Sat on a cinema chair watching life in front of me
tip toed on the wooden bridge of sadness,
Then silently and secretly I tip toed back to reality,
Without distrubing lifes natural peace,
I slip into the rest of the week as myselfΒ
myself a wild, strong and fearless animal.
