Poem -
IS EARTH REALLY FLAT OR REALLY ROUND?
How do we know the earth is round?
How do people not fall off?
If we jump real high we come straight down...
If we jump on the back of a moving truck we fall off...
Do we believe in what we're told?
Do we seek truth by testing things on our own?
Do we believe that in which we can only see?
Does anyone really know if the earth is really flat or really round?

great poem sparrowsong when I was 9 I found out that the earth was round and we were in space and worried will we fall and where will we go that is safe I worried about that then, now that I am 60 I worry about my falling lol great poem peace and love xxoo

There's reasons we could think the earth is really flat...
The alignment of the moon and stars at night...
Airplanes don't have to dip and Australians being below the equator would fall off...
The thing I wouldn't be able to understand is why if the earth is in fact really flat...
Then why would it be so important for us to believe that it's really round?
When I was taught the earth was round and we revolve then how do the oceans not come onto our heads unless, it's a storm...
I was kind of concerned that I would drown in my sleep or me and my family would get washed out and poof be gone...
Kids huh?
Our imaginations sure can scare us when we're little...

One of those conspiracy theories in-deed my friend.......Now you have me wondering about this once again...Just as Greg has conveyed, when younger, we came to believe all we were told by our elders, (without questions), though now that we are the advice passer-onners, we tend to wonder what we learned back then and (now pass on these days), truly do and did, hold water........Appreciate the read.....Jim

Things we were taught we didn't question because the adults would know...
Who were we to question science, Astronauts and no one would question NASA...
When we do certain experiments preferably without injury it's not disrespect as one may think...
But, it's knowledge...
We can learn right from wrong as well as be taught right and wrong...

Sparrowsong back in 1492 and before thay thougth the the would was flat so didn't go to far then Christopher Columbus change that and found the usa but there was lot that found it frist

I know about the history of Christopher Columbus he even has a holiday here...
Cities are named after him and so on...
If everyone believed something that easy and it spread like wildfire with the instruments they had back then...
I am not saying it is or it isn't...
I am only saying that it's high time we are taught facts and truth...
So that we may be wise teachers with honest answers...

Where in the bible is it specific?
There should be several verses that would clearly say...
Keeping in mind a circle or a dome doesn't necessarily prove that the earth itself is round...
Also, research the bible on the earth's movement...

If God's circle means the earth is round and pictures don't lie then we have the magnificence of how it all just works...
I have always been amazed at a few facts...
The facts the sun and moon rise and set in the same spot depending on the season...
We always have dark at night and daylight in the daytime...
Another fact that everything just works the way it does and we are held up and don't fall...
The oceans stretch so far...
The earth is amazing whether we thought it was flat or we found that it's round...
