Easter Morning

Easter Morning

Easter morning!

Mary ran toward the tomb of Jesus, her Lord,

Her soul was so sad; for He was with her no more;

With spices in hand, her respect she was there to apply,

The stone would be heavy but she must go and try;

The tomb was open the stone rolled away,

The world changed forever as she paused that day to pray;

The dark and gloomy tomb reserved for the dead,

Shone brightly around her as she ducked in her head;

The first thing she saw was an angel glowing bright,

Sitting on the slab, then she was filled with fright;

Who are you looking for here among the dead?

The Master has arisen donโ€™t you remember what He said?

Death could not hold the perfect lamb of life,

The tomb gave Him up to be your eternal sacrifice;

He who was sinless became sin for you and I;

He who was perfect was now sentenced to die.

Like a lamb, Jesus was led to the cross for slaughter,

Never making a sound His blood was placed on the alter;

He has risen to the throne at the right hand of the Father,

To sit in judgment of those who said faith was too much of a bother;

Look no more among the dead, the angel said;

Look instead to the clouds and see the crown that sits on His head;

Satan could not stop Jesusโ€™ mission to the cross,

The rest is up to us to accept or be counted a loss.

Praise God, Praise God, He died for me,

Praise God, Praise God, He lives for all, donโ€™t you see.
