Echoes of The Heart

Echoes of The Heart

When I first saw him
he was so very ordinary
Not the type
I would pick as attractive.
Not for me at all.

But he waited
outside my small flat.
Day after day
in the pouring Seattle rain
Just to catch a glimpse of me.

I gave in
he charmed me
He knew all my moods,
Sadness, sometimes happy
or often broken.

He knew
just what to say
to clear away the sadness.
How did you always
make me feel so beautiful?

I don’t know how or why
I decided to marry him.
Maybe because
the stars spangled that night.
Because his eyes teared
when Bambis mother died.

Mostly Because I knew
he would never ever control me.
Because he was so gentle.
I said yes.

I have lost him now.
The world is not as bright today.
There have been other imposters
I acted the choreographed
movements of love.

But in the fading
light of evening.
When the soul
Speaks in echoes.
It says truth
listen to the truth.

It was always you honey.
Because
only you knew
how to fix me.
