Joseph Carey Merrick was his God given birth name,

his mother abandoned him until a circus came.

I will always wonder was there mischief while in the womb,

possibly a coven that one can only assume.

He was put into a freak show, not someone to adore,

to see his deformities would make you hit the floor,

behind closed doors he was beaten, like he was eaten

for a meal he was not included, his harsh reality kept a secret always seemed deluded

, he died in his 20s, alone and with no love,

but someone was watching from high up above
