Embracing the Night

My thoughts burnished while the raven sang her dark song
I did not fear the night
The night shivered before my mind
I made an allowance
I gave it a sliver of my being
And in the darkness I saw a tree
Playing against the gilt that I knew all too well
And peace had another name
