Poem -

Empty Cup

Mom gave up ever since dad died,Β

my sister and I, is all that's left to speak of,

pining away at the blisters on our feet,

in such throes of insatiable heat,Β

praying to God,

with chapped lips,Β

my sister holds her belly tight,

crying out each night,

there's nothing left to eat,

I watch her starve herself to sleep,

but never to the ground I lye,

just to wake to see her die,

to feed her i'd give my life.
