Poem -

END

END

Carve me out of your skin.
So the night may see me dance
Free from the shelter of your stare.
So the light in me once snuffed may shine,
As I once did in your eyes.

Extract me from your roots.
Where I once lived in your very pores,
Fading into you until we were one.
Pull me from beneath the surface
Like the seeds not permitted to grow.

Scrape me from your memory.
So that photos burn and laughter dies,
Until every stray thought is a dagger.
Let the fire burn as fiercely as we did,
While we mourn every burning ember.
