ENGLAND AND THE WORLD CUP

ENGLAND AND THE WORLD CUP

Centuries ago England invented a sporting game
They called it football and things would never be the same
The passion of the people is plain to see
The nation expects when the World Cup is on TV

The World Cup comes around every four years
Thirty two countries providing blood sweat and tears
1966 was the last time of England's glory
Geoff Hurst and extra time a remarkable story

In 2018 the country hopes it will happen again
It started well last night thanks to Harry Kane
Who knows what the next month has in store
The drama will be there for this I'm sure

Nigel Cresswell...

Great poem mate, wish I could say the same for the game. The word lacklustre springs to mind. We really need to dig deeper for some fluidity as a team. Still, much better than watching Corrie.
Great write and unusually devoid of pessimism, nice one Kieran.
Nigel.
