Enlightenment #2

Enlightenment #2
He watched her washing bottles
in a tavern
by the roadside and later mending
burns and holes and tears
in other people’s dirty clothing
and just to
make a living, or so it seemed
Then taking sips
of melted snow caught in a golden
sun bowl
She later dined on grapes picked
from a Grecian
hand thrown plate ..
It was in that very moment
when he realised
without any warning, whatsoever
that nothing
lasts forever and there is no taste
at all to those last
few crumbs we each leave behind ..

Hi Neville, poignant last lines in this wonderful narrative piece. Once again you set the scene perfectly and then clinch it with much food for thought at the end, even if there are only crumbs left
A wonderfully clever write
Gwen :) x
Thanking you ever so much as always .. & many times over dear Gwen .. Your ongoing support & encouragement are seriously appreciated .. N :) x
Always a pleasure to read your work my friend :) x
Likewise me lovely :) x
Wow!! NEVILLE!!......once again, you paint incredibly detailed scenes that read with a poetic rhythm all your own......and in this case leave a rather grim, sad, taste in the mouth.....it's hard to swallow the idea that in enlightenment we find there is no reason to have lived....or we have left a tasteless trail.....I don't know....perhaps I have misinterpreted this and in Nirvana we find that "No taste at all" has extraordinary depth of meaning!!....either way.....A VERY compelling piece of poetic prose!!.......ALL STARS!!.......a pleasure dear poet brother!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo : )
I am again indebted to you Tony .. many thanks indeed sir and just for the record, not only do I like your personal take on this latest scribble, but feel obliged to point out that you aint far off the mark ... All Good Things .. N :)
I absolutely bloody love this...one of your best( for me) you have conveyed the pointlessness of the struggle in those last three lines x
and I am absolutely thrilled to bloody bits our Marion .. thank you so very bloomin much .......... x
Hi Neville, really thought provoking, I really enjoyed this . A great example of the final disinterest felt after realising time and time again that people don't change just because we hope they will...its when indifference happens we see clearly
lorna :)
