This is only an episode.
This is not the entire story
This is only an episode,
There's much more pain and much more glory.
A tiny step on an infinIte road.

The pain I am feeling,
The troubles and the strife.
These transitory things
will not define my entire life.
"This too will pass." a wise man said,
so it's still full speed ahead.
Sooner or later the time will come,
I'll say "this episode is done".

Guest stars will appear, its true,
live and in person for the fortunate few.
For the rest, just cameos it seems,
flickering images in the background on errant video screens.
On one thing I can depend,
every episode will end.
And another one will start,
and wait for me to play my part.

Times of joy and happiness.
when spirits soar and hearts beat fast,
those are the episodes I want to last.
Years from the day, when I recall the spice,
I'll say, "Ooo wee, that episode was nice."

And at the end of everything
when all things become one, I'll see
one episode of that great story will be me.
