Everything

Everything

Everything.
Lee.

In my world, all kinds of people and situations get my attention, but…

Preferences lean towards mocha skin.
Wingtips drawn on chubby faces,
Knee-length boots with bright red laces.

The flamboyant, the extraordinary and the simply plain.
The petite, the curvy, the in-betweens,
The ‘girl next door’ and the sassy queens.

Wallflowers lounging and keen-eyed watchers.
The introvert, the extrovert, those well spoken,
The uptight meek, the stoic but broken.

Barfly dwellers and crossword killers.
Painters, poets, readers and writers,
The laidback cool and the feisty fighters.

Love songs crooned in a foreign tongue.
Smokey voices singing the blues,
Soprano cheeriness that takes bad news,

Jaded couples and singles mooching.
Customer service on the checkout tills,
Youtuber’s selling their own red pills.

Mother’s schooling chattering kids.
People on buses flirting and teasing,
Around the Cenotaph, war widows grieving.

The suited ‘n’ booted, business snobs,
The shark-eyed junkies,
The maudlin slobs.

In life, on a daily basis, all types of folk meet,
And cross paths, maybe words are shared, maybe not spoken?
But none finish the day without a minute’s worth of consequence.
