Evolving to S.A.D.

I wonder from time to time
Would I be the same without technology?
The same without my phone and internet? 
The same without my music or netflix? 
What then would calm my mind?
What then would help me escape? 

After much questioning and much debating
A realization was made. A revelation
These questions are the proof
Proof of the dependence I have
Proof I am lost without such things 
Isn’t that the saddest of things?

We have evolved and smartened 
We have upgraded and renovated 
But I fear we have just bettered ourselves
In order to destroy ourselves much more efficiently
If the cold war was any indication,
We are headed to Self Assured Destruction
