Poem -

Fade Away

The dream has died
Faith has waned
I've been broken
on the rocky shores of reality
The person I've always
been fades into what
the world demands
rings sound off stone
as they fall into an
ocean of despair and loss
Ink runs down my body
staining the stones
that cut my skin to ribbons
As crawl for the cliffs of shore
Climbing a wall of stone
the wind takes my voice
replacing it with a wail
for all that is lost
And as I reach the
top of the cliff
I feel the last of my
flesh fall away
Looking out I see a desolate
land of grey, a wasteland
I step forward in a new skin
The old fading to memory
jeans and t-shirt traded
for the grey garments of success
In a world of grey drones
falling in line
The last thing I see before
I'm truly gone is the grey
sky of this new world
And then I'm gone and in
my place stands yet another
drone falling in line.
