Fall 101

Why Jesus is Lord

I.
We weren't always naked

Before we tasted evil,
we could be all that

We knew the codes:
the names of all the animals

According to the conditions,
we could adjust in a flash

Like those camouflaging critters
of the jungle and the sea

Chamelians and octopi
and birds of paradise

But there was a limit

II.
God knows that we were
already like God

But a kindred spirit slipped in,
joined the conversation

And so we thought perhaps
a little magic might give us added value

We thought we would travel
through space and time:

Reach that quantum level
where particles and waves dissolve,

That moksha where we become
speedy droplets of light

Exploring the cosmic ocean
and flying where we wish

III.
Knowing how to take form
in the shape of any beast...

was not enough of a feast,
and so we took that bite

Only to discover that
our initial liberty had been a cover

We had never been so free at all;
The pleasures of Eden merely on loan

A blood of divinity
That master key

Enabled the privilege
of that Heavenly home

IV.
Sure, we got our wish
but in distorted form

As sperma we travel but unaware
until outside the garden we're born

And after that our form is weak
A skin must cover us in the frost

What shameful cursed flesh is this
We must endure as sheeple lost

V.
Our recollection of the past
is vague and full of surprise

And so when we behold the reset
We can't quite grasp it

It's hard to process
either through ears or eyes

But our Master did it on that hill,
at the place we called Golgotha

He restored the image of the One
and beckons us back to Mother

There is a hope we will be clothed
with shapeshifting power once more

And on that day the earth will rejoice
to be under the dominion of God-lovers

Who have entered through cherubim door

VI.
And we shall remember those graces
That enabled us to be

And we will delight in new garments
When every blind soul shall see

We will know how to exist here
In harmony and peace

And the light of heaven
will dwell among us

As we dance to songs
of release
