Falling Drops

Beading and fleeting,
like falling drops of rain...
These thoughts and feelings
Of longing and pain
Wash over me and
Leave behind
A cleaner conscience
And throbbing mind.
Clear enough to briefly find,
the me that I long left behind.
That cleanest of slates that once brimmed with wonder,
The boy who loved to laugh at the thunder.
But fleeting as the drops
that knock upon my window,
The boy runs back
to the fog from which he came
And the sounds of his voice,
now muted and hallow,
Are drowned in a sea
of falling drops of rain.

Really good write John, you have probably just described the whole of the human condition my friend...some are just better actors than others x
You flatter me, madam.
I'm a madam...in all senses lol 😆
Oh no I'm sorry. Lol
And intrigued. :)
Reminded me of those magic times when something has hurt us and we realise that we are actually quite alone in our journey through life, no one will feel our pain for us, we become aware of what we essentially are for a short time... and then lose it as the life that surrounds us closes in again and we are back on a stage we have somehow created.
Beautifully said, Dusk. There's something comforting in knowing that we all share these feelings.
