It was ten past four when you said you were going to die 
The untreatable cancer and I started to cry 
Father dear father why should this be so?
Life has dealt you a vicious blow 

My father and I don't always share the same views 
However I was devastated when he told me the news 
You are the patriarch of our family life 
You gave your all to me and your darling wife 

Father I will miss all the good times we had 
I will always be grateful and thankful to be your lad
