FATHER JOHN

 
I will protect you and make sure you don't fall 
Have done this since you were very small 
From when you went to school or climbing trees
I made sure that you never had dirty knees 

My responsibility was solely for you my dear  
As you grew up remembering Daddy was here 
Being a father was not easy that's for sure 
I could only give you my love and nothing more 

Today as I reflect and wonder where time went
The childhood and youth you had is now spent
You have flown the nest and moved on
