Like A Father To Me (war diary)

Like A Father To Me (war diary)

Mentioned in dispatches for his bravery

In combat he was like a father to me

He kept me from harms way

Saving my life nearly every day

War is so brutal and cruel to all involved

But he had so many mysteries solved

He knew what to do and what to expect

For him the art of war was to be circumspect

But given an opportunity to excel

He made sure the enemy experienced hell

To kill as many as he could

As every fully trained soldier should

Led to his catchphrase, he often recited

" To see them flee makes me so delighted ! "
