Feeding the Beast

It's hard to know what part one plays
Crafty forces know how to take
good intentions and good ideas
Hijack them slowly over the years
We live in a world crafted on exploitation
Every demand is woven into stories of nations
We cry for the moon and we get rockets
And money and weapons
and an earth infused with plastics
We wish to control the air so our children can breathe
But the ACs we make do not bring reprieve
They merely suck out the heat
to release CfC treats
And then we are left with extra UVs
We clear away green and spray against vermin
Then our immunity drops and lets all the germs in
We escape from the cities to get back to nature
But not without our convenient appliances
That demand industrial maintenance
as well as waste management
And so we bring a supermarket
and later a mall
and the get away town becomes a city after all
Our lifestyle is unsustainable
It's simply a delusion
So obvious it's unforgivable
That's the conclusion

Just love it...we are a ridiculous species, we are stupidity disguised as cleverness! ?
