Fear of Judgement
words under wrap, place them on
a forgotten shelf in the
basement of your mind. leave them,
let them dry up, becoming
skeletons. water them with
daily reminders of their
intended use, but neglect
them until they mold. let them
decompose, inflating in
the tiny space you allowed
them, when all they needed was
to be released into the
abyss, where they may be heard,
interpreted by theĀ mass,
knowing the value that they
were meant to hold. alas, there
they sit, rotting pits into
your mental structure, eating
away at the fibers of
your sanity,
health,
joy.
and yet you cannot move them.
you pry and push and pull but
the fear has bonded them so
well to silence that you can
not break it. i need out! they
cry. fatigued and lethargic
you put your hands down, admit
defeat. stare and sigh at what
was once pristine, now crumbling
down from weight and destructive
habits. but you can't seem to
help it. superglue and night
lights do no good against place.
shut off the light and return
to purpose, mourn for words long
lost and deflated. reason
is easy for you to feel,
yet impossible to share.
to them lyrics are nuisance;
tears simply a thing pitied.
no reason to cry as far
as they know, but tell that to
the decaying self being.
