Feel Alive Again

Feel Alive Again

It's weird the way life works
like a tidal wave.
Bringing me to shore just long enough to kiss the sand,
enjoy the shells, the sun
and then quickly drags me back out to sea.
Back to the dark, thought-filled emptiness
I thought I had just maybe gotten free of.
And I'm wondering,
Just when will I be strong enough to pull myself out,
without the help of the current
and finally keep my head above the water.
Then maybe, just maybe
I can learn to feel alive again.
