Poem -

First Rain

Of smoke filled days

and summer haze

Autumns sweet dew

Misty mornings

pungent earth

yields its life

of dancing frogs

Awakening the slumber

of slender millipedes

Fat fecund slugs

touches of green

peek through

the parched forlorn scape

Dry dust brown

The skies are heavy

mellow light

sweeps away the harsh glare

as twilight comes early

Ah, the rain at last.
